March 29, 2008 - Little Ponderosa*
Picnic and pony rides. This annual event is a big hit with the kids. Join us from noon 'till everyone is tired. Bring a picnic as we can eat in the nice barn or out under a pavilion.
Directions: Cove Lake is located in East Tennessee's Campbell County, 30 miles northwest of Knoxville on U.S. 25W and I-75 between LaFollette and Lake City. From I-75, take Exit 134, travel a 1/2 mile on Veterans Memorial Highway, and take the first left turn. The park likes within the city limits of Caryville, Tennessee. May 10, 2008 - Cheung Chau Bun Family Picnic
We'll be at Shelter #3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Bring a picnic lunch (and bread for feeding fish and birds). Rowboats and pedal boats are available for rent on the lake. There are playgrounds, and the park offers game equipment (badminton, shuffleboard, and horseshoes) that can be checked out..

June 7, 2008 - Dragon Boat Festival*
3:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the pavilion at the new Knoxville water splashpad—New Harvest Park

Please bring a covered dish to share, and your own drinks.
New Harvest Park is located not far from Knoxville Center Mall. There is a brand new splash pad (one of those water play areas like a giant sprinkler) and a playground. Kids will definitely want their swimsuits, water shoes and towels. We will also have crafts.
June 28, 2008 - Knoxville Dragon Boat Races
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (approximate start and end time) at the pavilion at the Cove Park in Concord (Farragut).
FCC-ET plans to have an oragami boat craft, coloring sheets and crayons, marbles and chopsticks, and maybe a small pool with boats for children to play with. We also are planning a display with the history of the dragonboat races and some interesting facts about China.
All Day Activities: Moon walk for the kids, kids area with temporary tattoos and balloon animals, fountains for children to play in during the races. Performances by the East Tennessee Chinese American Organization.

August 2008 - Chinese School Starts!*
Child must be 3 years old by August 1 to attend. Classes are held Sunday afternoons at the Knoxville Chinese Christian Church (which is not too far from West Town Mall).
September 12, 2008 - Moon Festival*
Meet at 5:30 PM at The Cove at Concord Park. This date has been changed from the 13th. More details to come.
September 20, 2008 - Culture Camp*
WHEN: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
WHERE: Knoxville Chinese Christian Church (which is not too far from West Town Mall). Members of the Chinese community help with the camp, but the bulk of it is parent volunteers.
WHO: Children ages 2 and up
COST: Cost is $22/child - One parent is required to be onsite. The only cost for the parent is lunch, which is $6/person.
WHAT: We will study the next 3 Chinese Dynasties on our list. Preschoolers may choose to leave after lunch.
ABOUT CAMP: The goal of camp is for our children to have an opportunity to spend time with children like them and learn about the Chinese culture. We believe camp will help booster their self estimate, create friendships, and help them grow.
October 11, 2008 - Pumpkin Patch*
Meet at 10:00 AM, Hay ride at 10:30 to the pumpkin patch
We have reserved picnic table under the shelter for a picnic lunch to follow. Each family is responsible for their own lunch. Normally there are additional activities for the children and of course you can do the corn maze at your own pace. For more information and directions go to the Oaks Farm web site.
Prices are:
Hay ride and your choice of pumpkin - $5
Just the ride - $2 (under 12 ride free)
The Works - Maze Admission, Hay ride & Pumpkin - Adults - $12.00, Ages 6-11 - $10.

*We had a wonderful event for 2008, the "year of the rat". Plan on joining us for the 2009 celebration.
*FCC membership is not required to attend these events.
